Wrong recipient? Take control of the share.

  1. Record the actual share and the known facts
  2. Give the follow-up to a named person

Did a Meo link go to the wrong person? Open the Shares page, find the affected share and revoke it. This closes access through that link while you examine what happened.

Revocation does not remove a file already downloaded. If you do not know whether the recipient kept a copy, keep that question open in the follow-up.

Record the actual share and the known facts

Check which folder was shared, the documents it contained and the actual recipient. In Meo’s incident register, record the information involved and the actions taken. Enter times you can establish without filling gaps with assumptions.

Here is a fictional example of a note written after revoking the share:

Share: Atelier client’s Quotes subfolder.
Accessible document: quote.pdf, containing the proposed price, client name and client email.
Wrong recipient: review@example.com, an external contact.
October 8, 2026, local times: sent at 9:12 a.m.; error discovered at 9:16 a.m.; share revoked by Samir at 9:18 a.m.
Unknown: whether the document was downloaded.
Follow-up: Manon, the privacy lead, notified at 9:20 a.m. to review the facts and determine next steps.

Give the follow-up to a named person

Send the note to the person handling follow-up in your organization. In this example, Manon takes over the review, adding newly established facts and completed actions to the register.
